Shoot the Messenger was launched by Karen Kay in response to growing demand from a range of businesses seeking her expertise as an award winning journalist, broadcaster and branding & communications expert.

Karen has extensive experience working as a strategic media trainer, copywriter and creative consultant, working with public sector bodies, global tech businesses, international FMCG brands, luxury goods houses and smaller start-ups trying to gain a foothold in a competitive marketplace.

Karen has worked as a correspondent for Sky News, interviewing business leaders, A-list celebrities, sporting stars, politicians and more. She has been grilled by Jeremy Paxman and Kirsty Wark on BBC 2’s Newsnight and John Humphreys on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

She has debated and discussed the topics of the day on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, The World Service and LBC radio. Karen has hosted a regular slot on ITV’s This Morning, sold jewellery on TV shopping channels and presented radio shows on LBC. She has worked as a UK-based producer and reporter for E! Entertainment and Fashion TV in the US, and as a film-maker for The British Council.

Karen has held senior titles on national newspapers and worked as a Contributing Editor on the Mail on Sunday’s YOU magazine. She has written regularly for publications including the Observer, The Times, the FT’s How to Spend It magazine, the Daily Mail, the Daily Telegraph, Grazia, the Evening Standard and Metro.

She has edited customer magazines for brands including Sunseeker Yachts, Champneys and Kuoni Travel, and ghost-writes books, speeches, editorial, blogs and other material for high profile public figures and business leaders.

Karen has worked as a commercial copywriter and creative consultant for a broad range of brands, supporting their marketing strategy with hard-working, purposeful content and campaign materials. She has helped develop multi-platform communications and social media strategies, tone-of-voice documents, branded content, crisis preparation policies & protocols and media training programmes to build awareness, messaging, authority and loyalty – all with commercial objectives in mind.

She continues to work as a prolific and respected journalist and broadcaster and is perfectly placed to use her network of colleagues to tailor training workshops and programmes to suit individual brands and their needs.
